Just a few months ago, I was at the CRM 2011 launch in Redmond. Microsoft was talking about CRM 2011 and how this release will be the best ever. Looking back, Microsft was clearly off the mark but this time, for the positive. CRM 2011 is not only the best ever release, it's a game changer.
Cloud computing has been on top of Gartner IT hype cycle and the businesses are now seriously looking at if/how/when can they move towards cloud computing. At the end of the day, the interest stems from the desire to solve business problems in a cost effective manner. I don't think any other cloud solution from Microsoft to date brings to light it's vision of cloud computing in a way CRM 2011 does. I have worked intimately with CRM 2011 for over a year now including last 6 months in client environments. Yet, each time you deploy seamlessly solutions from one environment to another without worrying about where the environment is hosted, is ground breaking and innovative. Simply put, CRM 2011 makes the debate around cloud or on-premise irrelevant. You can chose what you want when you want. So, the best cloud release from Microsoft makes cloud debate vanish. Paradox that is beautiful.
The story of CRM 2011 is one of potential and if Microsoft delivers on the promise of continuous innovation, fasten your seat belt for the ride ahead.
